Hanok Loft

Edgewater, NJ

The Hanok Loft is for a client whose passion for design has been shaped by childhood memories of Korean Hanok architecture. The home translates that legacy into a minimalist interior defined by precision and craft. Natural light moves slowly across white oak surfaces, revealing subtle shifts in grain and tone that echo the tactile calm of traditional joinery.

A custom wood screen, crafted from ethically sourced white oak, becomes the defining gesture of the space. It filters daylight, creates privacy, and conceals storage with quiet sophistication. The rhythm of its vertical slats introduces a human-scaled texture that softens the open plan.

Across the kitchen, seamless cabinetry with circular cutout pulls continues the theme of restraint and warmth. The balance between oak, white lacquer, and stainless steel creates a serene, enduring palette that feels at once contemporary and rooted in memory.
