TEAM
Lindsey Wikstrom
Founding Principal
Lindsey Wikstrom is an architect and author, known for advancing regenerative approaches to design, with a focus on material innovation, biodiversity, and non-extractive processes. As the Founding Principal of Mattaforma, and through both her studio and her scholarship, Lindsey advances the idea that architecture can be a choreography of care: designing not only for buildings, but for the interconnected flourishing of communities, landscapes, and planetary systems.
Lindsey is the author of Designing the Forest and Other Mass Timber Futures (Routledge, 2023), a book that situates architecture within living forest systems and argues for more just and ecological building practices. She has contributed essays to Domus and other publications, and has moderated conversations with global leaders in design and ecology, including events for Prada Possible Conversations and MoMA’s Emilio Ambasz Institute.
Lindsey has led graduate-level architecture studios at Columbia GSAPP, Yale, Cornell, and Syracuse, and holds a Master of Architecture from Columbia University. She is also a frequent public speaker, presenting at conferences, universities, and cultural institutions on topics ranging from mass timber futures to ecological urbanism.
