Dear Future

New York, NY

Dear Future is a exhibition for Spence Chapin who is raising funds to support a Granny caregiver program at Chiquitines Children’s Home in Cali, Colombia. Working closely with local Colombian artists, the children in this facility crafted masks and costumes that uniquely express their personalities and aspirations. Our approach toward the exhibition design was to amplify their story.

Simple wood elements host artifacts made by children, including a letter written to their future self. In their letters they imagine the lives they might one day lead and the places they might see. The display structures were engineered to be easily assembled and disassembled, lightweight for transport, and visually simple so that the children’s work remained the focal point.
